Chaplaincy

Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit;
and there are varieties of services, but the same Lord;
and there are varieties of activities,
but it is the same God who activates all of them in everyone.
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good.
(1 Cor. 12:4-7).

Message from School Chaplain Anthony Cave:
Welcome to St Mary's Catholic High School Chaplaincy. My name is Anthony and I am Chaplain to Saint Mary's. The Chaplaincy is also supported by a number of staff and pupils from across the school.

The role of Pupil Chaplains is to help all members of the school community experience as fully as possible the reality of God's presence and love in their lives. This is achieved through:

Words that proclaims the Good News.

Actions that demonstrate faith through alleviating poverty, promoting justice and peace and showing concern for God's creation.

Relationships that make real the Gospel values of honesty and reconciliation, care and compassion. Through words, actions and relationships the whole community is nurtured in its response to God's call and challenged to celebrate it joyfully in life and liturgy. We believe that school is a holy place because Christ is at the heart of all we do and are and strive for at St Mary's. Our belief that God has created every person shapes our attitude to all so that we recognise that each person has been created with a purpose, is valuable and has gifts and talents, which they can use in everyday life. As well as teaching the Catholic faith and values through the curriculum we also strive to help students grow spiritually and foster in them the realisation that they are loved by God. Through our school Masses, assemblies, Services of Reconciliation, retreat and pilgrimage programmes and other liturgies, we come together as a school family to pray and give thanks. With the prayer and worship life of the school we give students the time and space to be able to reflect on their life, and the place of faith in their lives.
